Deirdre is the lead attorney for all Innocence Matters clients and the direct supervisor for the intern program.

DAVID WINKLER: Volunteer Staff Investigator

David is retired Los Angeles County Sheriff Detective and has served as a volunteer staff investigator with Innocence Matters since 2012.  He played a vital role in the investigation of Susan Mellen's and John Klene's innocence claims.

CAROL WATSON: Volunteer Screening Attorney

Carol is a retired civil rights attorney and former partner at Manes & Watson with 35 years experience litigating and researching police misconduct cases. Since October 2012, Carol has assisted Innocence Matters with our case evaluation process.  In 2015, Carol joined our board.

WIILIAM KIDSTON, Professional Photographer

William is a three-time, Emmy-winning photographer with over 30 years of industry experience William Kidston Photography  Each year since 2013, William has donate his time and professional skills at our Courageous Truth Award.

Innocence Matters is always looking for talented people to join the team!

Staff Positions (Anticipated openings October 2015)

  • Junior Staff Attorney: Newly admitted to 3 years experience in criminal defense. Must be a self-initiated team-player with great interpersonal skills and genuine passion for our work and compassion for our clients.
  • Office Manager: We are looking for a very talented and versatile individual who will thrive in a busy environment.

Intern Positions

Each semester, we have 3-6 internship openings for students who are able to commit a minimum of 15 hours per week for a minimum of 12 weeks.  There is a strong preference for students who will get credit for their internship.  There is an mid-semester evaluation and final evaluation for all internships.
